The story in short
Cassiopeia is Du Couteau's younger daughter, but unlike her sister Katarina she studied politics instead of the blade. Her mother Soreana taught her, and when someone poisoned her mother's hairbrush, Cassiopeia stayed at her bedside for months. That's when her mother revealed a secret: she was part of the Black Rose. Cassiopeia earned her own place in the order by finding and removing the people who wanted her mother dead.
When her father backed the coup against Darkwill, her mother saw it as betrayal and sent Cassiopeia deep into the desert to find the godlike power that once made Shurima great. Cassiopeia hired the mercenary Sivir as her guide, then stabbed her in the back at the door of a tomb. An ancient stone guardian bit her, and she began turning into a serpentine creature. She's hiding in the abandoned crypt of the family home in Urzeris, determined to accept her fate, maybe even embrace it one day, though she still doesn't know what she's becoming.
